Group Senior Pictures in Storrs, CT

My name is Carlota, and I’m a portrait and event photographer who loves celebrating the big and little moments in people’s lives. Senior pictures are some of my favorite sessions because they mark the culmination of years of hard work and growth while looking ahead to exciting new beginnings. One of my favorite types of graduation and senior photos sessions is group photos! I had the absolute joy of photographing a group of UConn seniors named Ariba, Annika and Stephanie who wanted to commemorate their college experience together. I graduated from UConn in 2017 so any chance that I can get to drive back to one of my favorite places on earth and get some of that delicious Dairy Bar icecream is a chance I'm going to take!

Planning the Perfect Photo Session

Planning for group senior pictures is all about collaboration and capturing the unique personalities and bonds of the group. We started with a phone consultation to discuss their vision for the session. We covered everything from outfits to props and locations, ensuring every detail reflected their style and story.

During our chat, we reminisced about their past four years at UConn—favorite moments, hangout spots, and meaningful events that shaped their journey. The seniors shared their love for iconic campus landmarks and the special places where they spent late nights studying or celebrating with friends. Together, we finalized the session date, time, and meeting location and hyped each other up in the days leading to the shoot. It was clear this would be a session filled with fun, laughter, and nostalgia.

Photo Session Details

The big day arrived, and we were ready to explore the beautiful UConn campus. As a proud Husky alum, being back on campus to capture these moments felt extra special. We started with individual portraits, highlighting each senior's unique personality and style. Then, we shifted to group photos that showcased the close friendships they had built over the years.

We wandered through beloved campus spots, including the Student Union, Mirror Lake, and Gampel Pavilion. Of course, no UConn senior session would be complete without a visit to the iconic Jonathan the Husky statue in the center of campus. The energy and camaraderie of the group shone in every shot, from playful poses to heartfelt moments of reflection.

As we walked, we shared memories about life at UConn, favorite classes, and plans for the future.

There’s something magical about capturing senior pictures in a place that holds so many formative memories. I could feel their excitement for what’s next mixed with gratitude for their time at UConn. During photo sessions with me, my approach is to start off with some basic poses to get you warmed up in front of the camera, from there I have prompt ideas for you to do something so that we can also get really fun candids. I'm naturally an introvert but I also make a fool of myself by telling jokes or being silly so that you feel comfortable in front of the camera. I think its really important for each person to feel comfortable so we get the best photos possible!

Why Group Senior Pictures Are So Special

Group senior pictures celebrate more than individual achievements—they honor the friendships and shared experiences that make college so transformative. They’re a fun way to document not only where you’ve been but also the people who helped you along the way.
