Pros: Beautiful fall foliage, open fields, rustic stone walls, and a peaceful atmosphere.
Cons: Can get busy on weekends, lots of trees, golden hour is typically much earlier in this location because of the tall trees
This park offers a perfect mix of history and nature. In the fall, the leaves create an incredible golden backdrop, and the stone structures add character to your photos.

Huntington State Park — Bethel / Redding
Best Time: Golden Hour or early morning
Pros: Variety of landscapes — ponds, meadows, trails, and unique stone bridges.
Cons: Can be buggy in summer; parking fills up quickly on weekends.
This is one of my favorite “all-in-one” parks. Whether we’re walking through meadows or shooting near the water, Huntington always has soft, dreamy light and plenty of natural beauty. The light in the morning is really beautiful.

Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard — Newtown
Best Time: Great in the early morning or golden hour
Pros: Open fields, wooden fences, and sometimes horses grazing in the background!
Cons: Access may depend on event schedules; less shade in midday sun.
A great choice for anyone who loves a rustic, country feel. The light during sunset here glows beautifully across the open fields.

Aquila’s Nest Vineyard — Newtown
Best Time: Golden Hour to Sunset

Cons: Must request permission; can be windy on the hilltop.
Aquila’s Nest has a beautiful bridge to take photos at and wide open field! The sunset views are unbeatable — ideal for engagement, anniversary, or romantic couple sessions.

Burr Farm — Brookfield

Burr Farm is beautiful in its simplicity — it photographs best in the late afternoon when the light warms up and hits the fields just right.

Tarrywile is timeless — it offers variety for every kind of session. The gardens are perfect for spring, and the rolling fields glow beautifully at sunset.

Waveny Park is one of the most stunning and versatile locations in Fairfield County. Between the grand stone mansion, the open fields, and the scenic walking paths, there’s something for every type of session. The light at golden hour here is especially beautiful as it filters through the old trees.
